disabling the wheel mouse scroll feature

disabling the wheel mouse scroll feature

disabling the wheel mouse scroll feature

(OP)
I have a logitech wheel mouse and when I scroll the wheel autocad zooms. I would like to disable this feature. mbuttonpan seems to have no effect on this problem. I still want to be able to use it in other windows application so going to control panel and disabling it is not an option. I've tried several things including playing with the button asignments in acad.mnu file. Please if you have any suggestion let me know. thanks.

RE: disabling the wheel mouse scroll feature

Probably the only solution, the one I use since I had the same problem, is make a AutoIt program disable the feature when you start Autocad and activate it again when you leave.

If you do not know what AutoIt is visit

RE: disabling the wheel mouse scroll feature

Not using AC this is a generic answer but try disabling the wheel mouse function in control panel. Go to control panel|mouse|wheel|troubleshooter|advanced and add Autocad to the list of programs you don't want to use the wheel. Hope this helps....Mike

RE: disabling the wheel mouse scroll feature

I do not have such tab, what kind of drivers you use?

RE: disabling the wheel mouse scroll feature

It is a Microsoft Intellipoint Mouse, driver is version 4.0.0.657...Mike

RE: disabling the wheel mouse scroll feature

First, verify the MBUTTONPAN system variable is set to 0.

If the MBUTTONPAN system variable is set to 0 and the problem persists, try restoring a valid acad.mns menu file from the installation CD for AutoCAD.

RE: disabling the wheel mouse scroll feature

JD,

First of all, I would like to try to get you to use the dynamic zoom ability of the scroll wheel.  It is absolutely fabulous.  When I get on an old work station that doesn't have this ability, I feel like I'm going to go mad.  Second, if you don't want it to zoom in and out when you scroll the wheel, what do you want it to do?  If nothing, then just don't use it, no need to disable it.  If something else, let us know so we can help out.

Brian

RE: disabling the wheel mouse scroll feature

Within AutoCAD 2000, set the mbuttonpan variable to 1.

Set your scroll button to AutoScroll using the Logitech driver Setup Buttons tab. On my system, the defaulted was Universal Scroll which evidently does not work with mbuttonpan. Change the setting to AutoScroll.

Select USE MSOFFICE compatible scroll only. (Not entirely sure this setting is required.)

This way I was able to use the Logitech driver and all the features of my 5 button MX310 mouse.

I'm using Mouseware 9.78.

Good luck.
