impact test

I have a qualified weld procedure with impact test at -196 deg C .per B31.3 impact test is not required for austenitic steel base material but it is required for weld metal.
The consumable brand which i used for PQR qualification is same for production weld. So do i need to perform impact for each batch of consumable as the test certificate does not have any impact value?

RE: impact test

No. Filler metal classification is the essential variable.

stanweld,

Can you elaborate little further to understand it?

RE: impact test

As long as the AWS filler metal classification is the same for both the procedure qualification and production welding no violation of essential variable is made; e.g., ER308 used for qualification qualifies all other ER308 classified filler metals regardless of manufacturer. It does not qualify you to switch the production filler metal to ER316 or ER347, etc.
