Chinese Specification for Transformer - how to interpret

Chinese Specification for Transformer - how to interpret

Chinese Specification for Transformer - how to interpret

(OP)
I have been asked to review a spec for an industrial power transformer for China - it says:

"2. The voltage-regulating mode of main transformer should be on-load, the total voltage rank is 7, voltage range is ±3*2.5%, voltage switch is recommended to use the product of MR."

What does Voltage rank of 7 mean?

What does "voltage switch is recommended to use the product of MR" mean?

Any help would be appreciated. I am in the US.

RE: Chinese Specification for Transformer - how to interpret

Perhaps MR is a manufacturer's name for load-tap changing switches? Or is that sentence perhaps advising you to use a switch made by the same manufacturer (abbreviated MR) as the transformer?

Suggestion: Ask for the spec in its original Chinese, then take it to a qualified engineer interpreter of your choosing.

Good on ya,

RE: Chinese Specification for Transformer - how to interpret

I would say it means an onload tapchanger with 7 positions. Centre would be nominal and then 3 steps positive of 2.5% step and 3 steps negative. MR is a manufacturer of very good quality tapchangers from Germany. It stands for Maschinfabrik Reinhausen (My spelling might be off). Google Reinhausen tapchangers. Interesting that the Chinese have specified Reinhausen. I've seen a number of Chinese clones of Reinhausen tapchangers on tender returns.

MR is the manufacturers name. It's German, very good quality.

Not sure about the voltage rank.
