Is it possible to convert a layout from one session of ACAD into a new session that is only model space?

RE: AutoCAD 2002 Converting Layouts to Model Space Geometry...

copy and paste?
changespace? (I think that might be chspace on the command line, it has been a few years since I used AutoCAD.)

I was looking for an easy way to combine the geometry in model space and the text, titleblock, etc. that was on the layout tab. I just copied and paste, then scaled up what was on the layout tab in a new session of AutoCad. Seemed to work. Thanks for your response.
