Delete Useless Elements
Delete Useless Elements
(OP)
Hi,
Catia V5 has a tool named "Delete Useless Elements".
It deletes usless elements (like curves, points, etc).
I was wondering if NX has a similar tool......
It helps a lot, especially when we update a file previously built by someone else.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

RE: Delete Useless Elements
expand everything, and see if what is there if what you want.
RE: Delete Useless Elements
In the moderate delete actions section there is an option for "Delete Unused Objects".
Also, in the part navigator, switch out of timestamp mode and you will see a folder called "Unused Items". These objects can generally be deleted without affecting the model.

Part Cleanup doesn't do anything (I've made a simply line, for evidence and than runned Part Cleanup; it didn't delete that line).
Any other option?................

RE: Delete Useless Elements
The best approach is the second one suggested by cowski as that will show you all the geometeric objects whic have not yet been referenced (i.e. 'used') by some other object and therefore are, by definition, 'unused'.
Just a comment in passing; I was amused by the use of the term 'Useless Elements' by the people at Dassault Systèmes as the word 'useless' is subjective while 'unused' is purely objective. In other words, to say something is 'useless' is to make a judgment about the value of something which I don't think we are quite ready yet to turnover to a software application
