Specifying SA106B with min ID
Specifying SA106B with min ID
(OP)
In reviewing SA106B Ordering Information the size needs to be specified as NPS, weight class, schedule number, or outside diameter and nominal wall thickness.
We need to maintain a min ID with min wall thickness. To accomplish this we want to take a standard pipe and swage it down so that we don't have to machine the ID.
How do we specify this material and still be in compliance with the Ordering Information requirements?
Thank you for your feedback.

you may be allowed 8 or more % machining. swage would not be a problem as long as you keep the min T.
that's ordering spec. (that is under fabrication)... then you may even have more T to cut if the calculated T + corrosion all if any exceeds the required vessel T.
