Amount of water required for 100% saturation of 1 cubic foot volume at 350 F?
Amount of water required for 100% saturation of 1 cubic foot volume at 350 F?
(OP)
Hi,
Can anyone help me out with this problem? I have a volume of 1 cubic foot. This volume has to be saturated to 100% at 350 F. How much volume of water needs to be added to 1 cubic foot of volume in order to get 100% saturation at 350 F?
Thanks,
Mike

How do I convert that data from the steam tables to amount of water I need to add to 1 cubic feet to fully saturate it?
rmw,
The assumption is that there is water in the volume to start with.

350°F ~ 177°C, so from the line that contains, oddly enough, 177.7°C, the density is given as 4.9 km/m3. Am I missing something here?

RE: Amount of water required for 100% saturation of 1 cubic foot volume at 350 F?
Suppose the starting conditions are:
T1 = 68 F
P1 = 14.7 psia
From water properties tables at these conditions the specific volume of water is v1 = 0.0160468 ft^3/lb.
From saturation water line at T2 = 350 F (and P2 = 2381.5 psig) the specific volume becomes v2 =0.0179862 ft^3/lb.
The increase in volume is of v2/v1 = 12.086%
