Drainfield for Swimming Pool Backwash
Drainfield for Swimming Pool Backwash
(OP)
I am designing a drainfield that will receive backwash water from a resort area swimming pool - 300 gpm for 5 minutes twice a week. Other than buffering the flow into the drainfield, should anything else be done to treat the backwash water to remove solids? Are there enough solids to be a concern?
Thanks
Thanks

RE: Drainfield for Swimming Pool Backwash
The regulations for disposal of pool water vary somewhat depending on the State where the pool is installed. Some States allow discharge to surface water provided the pH is neutral and the chlorine is removed.
A permit may be required. You will have to verify the requirements with the State or local municipality where you are located.

In South Florida, for example, swimming pool backwash for this type of system goes into the sanitary sewer and you need a sewer permit.
