Can a WPS/ PQR written to D1.1 be used for API 6A

Can a WPS/ PQR written to D1.1 be used for API 6A

Can a WPS/ PQR written to D1.1 be used for API 6A

(OP)
i have a customer that is an api 6a services shop

They had a wps and pqr made up but was written to aws d1.1 but the requirements need to be API 6A and NACE.If all requirements are meet can this procedure be used? The only problem i see with it is there was no charpys performed and from what i was reading charpys testing needs to be done in the weld and HAZ and satisfy the Base metal requirements which is 4130.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Can a WPS/ PQR written to D1.1 be used for API 6A

Without seeing the WPS, can't really tell you anything. But from seeing other Procedures, only written to AWS, the WPS wasn't even close to API requirements.

RE: Can a WPS/ PQR written to D1.1 be used for API 6A

Based on the old PQR test conditions and test results a new WPS can be written(as per sec IX which meets requirements of API 6A).If the WPS is written satisfying the conditions of the sec IX then i hope it wouldnt be a problem.

RE: Can a WPS/ PQR written to D1.1 be used for API 6A

mettamadhan,
You cannot take an AWS D1.1 PQR and write an ASME IX WPS from this.
When the coupon was originally tested it could have been tested to dual codes (if there was sufficient material for all required tests) but you cannot do as you have suggested.
