Issue with SW2010 converting sheet metal to DWG

Issue with SW2010 converting sheet metal to DWG

Issue with SW2010 converting sheet metal to DWG

(OP)
Hi,
I have only recently discovered the export to DWG/DXF option in SW2010.

though i am having problems with some of the parts i try to send, it seems to struggle with tangent edges and fillets. the fillets and tangent edges seem to go the opposite way than i have drawn them. has anoyone experienced this and does anyone know a remedy?

thanks in advance

Leigh I used to have a problem also, but don't rember what it was. There is a option "button" when you go to "save as" DXF, Make shure the make all splines as polylines is selected.Hope this helps.

Hey ArtL

thanks for your input but i still am having the same issue, i tried teaking what you said in the options but to no avail. this issue it only seems to happen with the more complex of shapes, usually those involving numerous fillets and tangent sketch entities.

Can you post a file that is giving you problems?

Really hard to help without being able to see what you are working with.

No problem seen on my system.

How are you creating the DXF, and which options are you using?

Careful with those full screen caps, you probably don't want to share your inbox with the entire world.

thanks engineererrant il know for next time - still trying to get used to the dual monitor setup!

RE: Issue with SW2010 converting sheet metal to DWG

Interesting. It looks upside-down as well. Are you locating the origin manually, or letting SW determine it automatically?

i always locate the origin manually as when i do so i find it handier with mating in asseblies etc, always appears to happen with heavily filleted or slotted parts - other than this small glitch - the new tool is fantastic and has saved me loads of time.

RE: Issue with SW2010 converting sheet metal to DWG

I've never seen this sort of problem before, but maybe it has something to do with the manual positioning you're choosing. Try exporting as above and letting SW handle the origin, etc., then edit the resulting DXF if you have to. If it doesn't explode as before, you have your answer.

RE: Issue with SW2010 converting sheet metal to DWG

I've never seen the problem before either. When you say the entities move, where are you opening the DXF? Maybe there is an option to manually add constraints/relations when you open/import it, and it's having trouble with so many tangent entities (just a thought). I opened up your DXF and it looks just like the part you saved.

As far as your screen captures go, use "Alt+Print Screen" instead of just the "Print Screen" key. Doing that only captures the active window.

RE: Issue with SW2010 converting sheet metal to DWG

I filed a bug in the 2009 or 2010 version of the software about the problem with slot arcs becoming invisible on .DXF exports which I checked and found fixed maybe it got broken again.

What SP of 2010 are you currently using?
