shunt reactors
shunt reactors
(OP)
I have some work on shunt reactors
i know it is used Because of rise of voltage,
i need to know where use it specifically ?
how much miles to use it with head line ? , and how much MVAr need?
for capacitive rise the same questions ?
i need rule for how mutch i need reactor with ultra voltage and EHV .

RE: shunt reactors
RE: shunt reactors
first thank you,
actully I do study it , but the study give general idea only
1- feranti effect it cuse cause rise of voltage for line longer than (150) miles .
2- capacitive rise .
3- use reactor on line , and it is Possible on busbar.
but how to do calculation for it ???
like you have a system 380 KV a long distance it is coming to substaction
here shunt reactor is needed as general , but how match MVAr you need by calculation ???
this is something did not find in books
RE: shunt reactors
so you need a shunt reactor of 380*380/Xr MVAr.
Power system analysis - Hadi Saadat 5.9.1 line compensation-shunt reactors.
Ferrant effect is a temporary overvoltage. You need also to study switching surge voltage by EMTP or ATP during line energization.
