my resuable components aren't working

my resuable components aren't working

I switched jobs, and at my last job we had reusable components. Where I work now I do not. when I click on the menu for it, nothing comes up. I go to log and see nothing but this

&MACRO MENU, 0, UI_KRU_EDIT_COMP UG_GATEWAY_MAIN_MENUBAR !

is there anyway I can enable them?

RE: my resuable components aren't working

What were the versions of NX that you used at your old job and your new job?

I used nx6 at my old job and now I am using nx5

RE: my resuable components aren't working

I just checked NX 5.0.6.3 and out-of-the-box the...

Tools -> Reuse Library -> Edit Usable Component...

...menu item is present and available. If you're not seeing it, someone may have removed it using the Customize tools. Try going to the 'Roles' tab on the Resource Bar and under 'System Default' select 'Advanced with full menus' and see if that brings it back to the menu. If not try all of the other Roles to see if any of them enables this item. If not, you may have to use Customize yourself to re-enable it.

No library defined in the Customer Defaults ?

File - Utilities- Customer defaults - Gateway - Reuse library - General - In the white space under "Native NX"
there should be lies similar to :
"Reuse Examples|$UGII_BASE_DIR/nxparts/Reuse Library/Reuse Examples
Bolts|C:\NX_admin\reusable\bolts "
etc

Where : "name-of-library-visible-in-NX"|"Name-of-directory-on-disk"

I think somebody might have changed some settings in the ugii_env.dat files . I remember changing stuff on friday to it, but forgot what. I did get the udf library pallete to show up. before its gave some error.

It also seems that with nx5, you have to insert a reusable component from the udf pallete. Then when you highlight it and go to the menu it works.

In NX6 there was a much better menu where you could highlight some holes, click on edit reusable component and you could select different bolts, add washers and the parts would mate automatically. Is it possible to get that menu or was it new with nx6.

RE: my resuable components aren't working

NX 6.0 is a newer and better product than was NX 5.0. Perhaps it's time for your employer to upgrade, and don't stop at NX 6.0. After all, NX 8.0 has been out since September and we're already at the second MR.
