Fatigue life analysis

Fatigue life analysis

Fatigue life analysis

(OP)

Hi,

I have been given a problem that involves the prediction of Fatigue life for a steel padeye...

I have already performed a dynamic analysis of the problem via Abaqus and the results are satisfactory.

My question is - how do I perform a Fatigue life analysis via Abaqus – if that makes sense...

All thoughts appreciated in advance...

Thanks

RE: Fatigue life analysis

only low-cycle fatigue is supported. for HCF you will need a different product, called fe-safe.

RE: Fatigue life analysis

Hi

doing the same by means of hot spot stress, out of abaqus.
I just use abaqus to:
- get the internal forces during the dynamic situation
- calculate the hot spot SCF ina diferent model

with this i perform fatigue in excel

good luck![dazed]

RE: Fatigue life analysis

Hi,

I use the same technique as n3l3, then I treat the resulted field of stresses out of abaqus using software like excel or matlab. The right choice of fatigue criteria is what determines the precision of your calculation.
