floating license tough to get working?

floating license tough to get working?

floating license tough to get working?

(OP)

I'm planning on buying Inventor and then getting the floating license so that one of two computers at work could use the software at any one time. I'd also like to be able to use the software from my laptop at home in the evenings. Does anyone have experience setting up the floating license to that a home computer can access the work LAN for license o.k.? I have a router and firewalls both at home and at work. I'd guess that makes things even more difficult.

RE: floating license tough to get working?

Hi Brian,

If you are using you are laptop to connect the server, where floating license is located it will work. Alternatively you can install as a stand alone licnese on your laptop by requesting Autocad to provide with you a home license. Your software seller could set it up /alternatively when you buy the software , you can join the subscription program and register, to control your sofware.

You can also borrow the licence from the network licence manager.

Thanks guys - I actually went with Solidworks. They were offering a good deal. No network license for now.

RE: floating license tough to get working?

I don't see how they could match a product design suite for the price but it is still a capable program. All the best.
