Accelerated Durability Test of Aluminium Extrusion Coating

Accelerated Durability Test of Aluminium Extrusion Coating

Accelerated Durability Test of Aluminium Extrusion Coating

(OP)
Dear all, we have an Aluminium extrusion that will be used as an outlet grille on an electric heater. The part will see temperatures up to 200C (390F) for several hours daily.
We'd like to carry out an accelerated life test to verify the durability of paint/coating that is used by the supplier on the extrusion.

I've come across ASTM 2485 (evaluating coatings of steel parts at high temperatures), but I'm not sure how applicable it will be.
Are there any other known industry standards or procedures for carrying out such a test?

Thanks,

RE: Accelerated Durability Test of Aluminium Extrusion Coating

ASTM D2485 and ISO 3248 are the only two consensus industry standards related to temperature resistance of coatings. Either test method will give you a good relative ranking of coatings, but are not necessarily going to tell you that your combination of substrate and coating will perform adequately for x number of years when exposed to variable conditions of temperature, humidity, UV exposure, etc.

Why not anodize?

Thank you both for your responses.
IRstuff, for aesthetic purposes, we need to paint/powder coat the part.
