Elevator on emergency generator
Elevator on emergency generator
(OP)
Hello,
I have a query regarding jurisdiction as to where a licensed electrician is permitted to work for an elevator backed by emergency generator.
A 3 phase 4 wire 120/208V 100A ATS switch feeds a 60A disconnect switch which then feeds a 208V/460V transformer to supply back up power to 460V 10 H.P. elevator.
Is a licensed electrician permitted to work beyond the disconnect switch to terminate the transformer's connection to the elevator or is a personnel from elevator company required to perform the task? My query is with regards to what portion of the work is a licensed electrician permitted and what work would the elevator company personnel would have to do so that it is compliant to elevator code.
Thank you.

In my location, any licensed electrician can make that connection. Not so in some large cities, though.
