Windfarm Collection System & Grounding.

(OP)
I am reviewing a wind farm collection system.
The system is radial with up to 7 generators on one radial.  The transformers are Y-D  600 volt delta -up to 34.5 kV.  The tranformer terminals on the MV side are 600 amp feed thru, with dead break elbows.
The 34.5 side has a D-Y grounding transformer (X-0 grounded).
My question is:  Is this normal?
I would have used single feed tranfromer with a combination 600 and 200 amp dead break elbow connectors.  That way one generator/transformer doesn't take out all or most of a radial.
The only good way to detect a 34.5 kV system ground is at the collection substation.  The low side breakers on each generator stup up transformer are shut tripped from the radial PCB.

I would recommend directional fault indicators on all radial collectors. Clearing a ground fault would be a long process without them.
Your thoughs and comments please.
Thank You

RE: Windfarm Collection System & Grounding.

Typical cheap wind farm system.  They don't ask how to do it well, they ask how to do it cheap.
