Catia sketcher symmetry issue

Catia sketcher symmetry issue

(OP)
Hello, i made a square and want to make it symmetric by origin axes, when i apply symmetry constraint the square is throwed away from the axes, i attached a picture to see what is happening.
I use Catia V5 R20

RE: Catia sketcher symmetry issue

Hard to see anything on the picture, are picking the objects in the right order? You are multi selecting (ctrl) three object before applyng symmetry condition, the last object picked is the symmetry line.

I don`t think it`s the selection order, i made a video to see how it behave.

RE: Catia sketcher symmetry issue

No way to edit your post after... sad
How big is your avi file ? Not everybody has a cheap and good connection...

It`s about 3mb, but can be seen in the picture, the orange lines are the selected ones, i want to make both sides of the rectangle symmetric by vertical axis, no matter the order i select them it throws the rectangle away like in the print screen, though i drawn it around the origin (point 0)

RE: Catia sketcher symmetry issue

No, you are using a wrong way, first select your lines, then use Symmetry command (not constrains) by selecting the vertical axis (or just follow what the Symmetry command indicate you to do it).

Symmetry command is in Transformations toolbar.

Ah, now I understood what you want to do..for me is working.

Maybe i`m just unlucky :(

RE: Catia sketcher symmetry issue

Florin85, I watched your video and all variants you are doing you pick them in the wrong order while the youtube clip you added is the right way. or did I miss something? Try this:

Multiselect (hold ctrl) and pick first the left vertical lines of the square, then pick the right vertical line of the square and finally the sketch axis then go to constraint function and set symmetry .

Yes i figured it out, it worked in the final, i was thinking that it makes the lines symmetric by CL as it`s the only line that can`t be moved.
