AC outlet with a dropout breaker

AC outlet with a dropout breaker

AC outlet with a dropout breaker

(OP)
My company has a sensitive piece of equipment that may be damaged due to dropout or brownout conditions on our AC line. Is there a device available with a resettable breaker if a dropout/brownout occurs? I need it to operate on 120V AC, 60Hz, 20A. I would want the breaker to be reset manually, not automatically.

A UV relay

RE: AC outlet with a dropout breaker

More specifically, you can buy what it called an Under Voltage (UV) trip coil for most breakers. It is a spring loaded solendoid connected to the trip mechanism inside of the breaker, held in by the voltage feeding the breaker. If that voltage drops below the threshold of the UV coil, it lets go and the spring activates the breaker trip mechanism, requiring manual reset when power is restored.

The PITA about it is, you MUST always wait for power to be present before you can turn on the breaker. So no "set it and forget it".

RE: AC outlet with a dropout breaker

How about a motor starter, with built in 90% U/V release?

RE: AC outlet with a dropout breaker

The 286 computers would eat the hard drive on a momentary power interruption. We would use a small relay that dropped out on a power failure. A reset button would pull the relay in and a spare set of relay contacts woulds keep the relay energized.
