Vibrating Wire Piezometer

Vibrating Wire Piezometer

Vibrating Wire Piezometer

(OP)
We have installed one Vibrating Wire Piezometer inside the excavation area whose tip is 25m below ground surface.

Initial reading on 23.11.2011 indiactes pore pressure of 0.177MPa.

Till 28.04.12 the reading was fixed at level of 0.161MPa.

We found changes in reading of pore pressure measured since 30.04.12 in the following manner,

30.04.12 - 0.148MPa
02.05.12 - 0.142MPa
03.05.12 - 0.140MPa

The excavation pit is almost dry, no significant seepage from surroundings has not been observed. No significant pumping has been done for dewatering purpose.

Subsoil profile indicates the formations as Clay of low permeability, stiffness increasing with depth.

Has anyone undergone through same case studies, please share your experience.

Thanks in advance
Debasis
