RE: conversion metric bolt to whitworth bolt

Changing to an inches based thread is one thing,  but` are you really sure  you want to go Whitworth??  I dont think Ive seen Whitworth used since the British Motorcyle industry started to go down hill in about 1958

RE: conversion metric bolt to whitworth bolt

As above, why did you name Whitworth?

What ever you change it to, change both the bolt/stud AND the nut.

Use a larger bolt and nut, don't ever "translate" into a smaller size.  Since your flange and vessel are already built, you will need to measure the holes for the maximum new/replacement bolt/stud dia.

RE: conversion metric bolt to whitworth bolt

An 8.8 is similar to a USA [SAE J429] grade 5.  For flange bolting, I would upgrade to SA-193 Gr. B7 studs and 2H nuts.  This is the standard bolting for pressure piping in North America / ASME items.

M64 is about 2½-inches.  I would purchase 2½-UN8 studs.  2½-inch nominal OD, 8 threads per inch.  Standard stuff for USA.
