nx4-how to generate a xxx_dwg.prt from xxx.prt

nx4-how to generate a xxx_dwg.prt from xxx.prt

(OP)
I am working on an assignment in which I modified a 3d-part-model in UG-NX4 from an existing 3d-part-model.

I want to generate an automatic 2d-draft-drawing for the modified one.

How can I do that?

RE: nx4-how to generate a xxx_dwg.prt from xxx.prt

File-New and hope you have a template that fits your 'automatic' draft drawing layout. If you don't have the template, then nothing will be automatic.

Did the existing 3d file have a drawing? If so, you can perform a save-as on the drawing and use replace component to get your new model into the existing drawing. You will likely have to reattach dimensions and cut lines for any section views, but all of the views will be there that the old drawing had.

For future reference: this process works best if you do the save-as on the part and drawing before you start making edits.

I addition to Cowski's response, when original part had existing drawing. It might be better yet to go in your drawing file (after saving as) to assembly explorer and close original part from there. Next you can right click it and select open component as, select modified part. This may leave some dimensions associated to the model.
