Elevated concrete slabs on metal deck

Elevated concrete slabs on metal deck

Hi.

Subject:  4 and 6 inch thick normal weight concrete slabs with B-Lok type composite deck setting on bar joists or WF shapes without shear studs.  Reinforcing not yet designed.

I've done several of these, but they were always small, single pours.  I'm now tasked with designing a large-area slab.  Where can I find construction joint details and sawcut placement guidelines...if they are different than slabs on grade.

Thanks.

RE: Elevated concrete slabs on metal deck

If my memory serves me correctly, this was addressed recently in another post string.

Also look in AISC Design Guide 18. They have some details.

It's no trick to get the answers when you have all the data. The trick is to get the answers when you only have half the data and half that is wrong and you don't know which half - LORD KELVIN

Put away the saw.  You don't sawcut suspended slabs.
