NX 7.5 Part Families

I have an assembly with 3 components named generically.  Top, Bot, Middle.  I would like to create a part family and rename the generic names to official names.  I have tried this a few times but it seems to be looking to replace the generic named model with the official named file.  Does anyone know about this?

Thanks,

RE: NX 7.5 Part Families

Exactly what steps are you taking to accomplish this?  You seem to imply that the Components already exist.  Are you trying to somehow turn these into Family Table Members or are you really starting from scratch and creating a new Master Template which can be used as a Family Table part which can 'generate' those 3 different Components?

John, no these components do not exist, I would to create new components off of these generic parts.

We still don't have enough information about what you've tried that has given you the results that you're asking questions about.
