Associative Note with Geometry Parameter

Associative Note with Geometry Parameter

Associative Note with Geometry Parameter

(OP)
Is there a way in NX 7.5 Drafting to have a note that is associated with a dimension or parameter of a 3D geometry?

Example: We have a huge plate with many square pockets. The floor thickness of each pocket varies; instead of making many cross sections in the Drafting module to show the floor thicknesses, we were wondering if on the top view, we could add "associative notes" inside each pocket which would be associated with the pocket floor thickness.

If so, how could this be done?  If not, any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

RE: Associative Note with Geometry Parameter

When you're in the Text Editor under the 'window' where you enter your text, if you expand the section titled 'Symbols' and look at the list of Categories you will find one listed as 'Relationships'.  Select that one and you will see an option labeled 'Insert Expression'.  If you select that you will be able to to select any expression in the part file.  If you're using Master Model, just pick the 'Link Part' button and select the Master Part file and you will find the Expressions in that file.  After selecting an expression, it will be linked to your note.  If you wish to control the number of decimal places that's what the <X0.2@...> portion of the text string is for with the 0.2 indicating that you want 2 decimal places.
