NCEES Record References

NCEES Record References

NCEES Record References

(OP)
I am applying for a NCEES record.  The application doesn't give much information on what will happen when I list my 5 professional references.  Anyone who has completed this...does NCEES contact all the references with a form, web link, phone call, etc?

I just want to brief those I am asking for references on the amount of information they will need to provide.

Thanks.

RE: NCEES Record References

Its been years - but I think I had to send them(references) the forms for them to fill out and return.  Be nice and include a stamped envelope addressed to NCEES.

Seems like they (NCEES) even supplied those??

Pick up that 2 ton phone and CALL them!!

haha...

it seems like I have better luck getting answers on here sometimes!

Thanks.

RE: NCEES Record References

It's been a few years for me too, but I have copies of everything and (back then) nothing was on the interwebz and NCEES sent me a package that included a form (for me to fill out the top) and a self-addressed envelope (I had to provide the stamp) for my references to return the form to them.  I would be surprised if NCEES still sends out the packages.

After you get your council record you have to get a current reference from a P.E. every year in order to renew it.  Again, it is a form that you fill out the top and your ref fills out the bottom.  Until last year I always sent my ref a self-addressed stamped envelope, but the guys that I tagged for this would rather get the form by e-mail and provide their own stamp.  One trick--the damn form doesn't say where to send it, I caught that at the last second and looked up their address (in a far different place on their web page) and provided it in the e-mail.

Thanks!

Just an FYI...

I submitted the application online which in itself seems like a vast improvement over an old paper application.  They never asked for an email address though for references so I am guessing that a hard copy gets mailed to them individually down the road.

RE: NCEES Record References

Just did NCEES last year. After submitting everything online, you'll get a link to the downloadable forms with your descriptions already included. You print and mail them to the references (nice to include a cover letter and stamped-n-ready envelope).

The reference must send the form directly back to NCEES, not to you.

You'll be able to watch progress on the NCEES site as they get returned.

Hint:  I used USPS priority mail online to print labels. That way, I got an e-mail message when each reference received the form, another when he or she mailed it, and another when NCEES received it.  That way I knew who to call and badger to prevent delays.

Good luck!

Good on ya,

Goober Dave

I somewhat cheated maybe and got a few of the references from folks here in my office. The rest are just accross town.  Nevertheless, it is still good to know and I will probably include a stamped envelope for them to make it easier.

Thanks for the info.
