2D bimetallic strip coupled thermal displacement Urgent Help needed!!

(OP)
Good Morning All,

I am newbie to Abaqus and i am trying to model 2D bimetallic strip deflection as temperature changes. But I am having serious issue as I can't make two parts i.e. strips interact. here is what I have done so far

1. created two identical 2d strips
2. created assembly and position two strips on top of each other.
2. assigned section/material properties
3. initial step-assign BC to the pin lower left and lower right corners of the bottom strip.
4. created step2 for coupled temp-displacement
5. created temperature boundary condition to provide temperature rise of 80C.
6. created job and submitted
7. result-only the lower strip bends but there is no interaction/ with the top strip please refer to the attached screenshot.

The idea was as the temperature increase the lower strip would bend more and tries to deform the strip above and we can measure overall deflection.

Can someone help me out please, I know I am missing something with interactions or constraints, I've played with few setting but the job gets aborted. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Many Thanks
