Best NESC 2012 Handbook ... by Clapp or by Marne?

Best NESC 2012 Handbook ... by Clapp or by Marne?

Best NESC 2012 Handbook ... by Clapp or by Marne?

(OP)
I am involved with updating our engineering company's code books.  Which do you think is the better NESC 2012 handbook ... the IEEE website handbook by Wiley Clapp or the McGraw-Hill handbook by David Marne?  (... will also be purchasing the 2012 NESC code book.) Our company is occasionally involved with small town residential/commercial style overhead and underground electric delivery systems where NESC applies.  (We do not have either handbook at the moment). Thanks,

I'm only familiar with the Marne book - it has been a good reference in the past.

Both authors are heavily involved in the NESC committees and, as a result, both books are excellent resources. They tackle the topic from slightly different angles - Clapp's handbook provides more historical context which can be very useful if you are trying to understand the intention of the Code and helps align existing structures with past code editions. Marne provides more visual examples and is great when trying to understand and apply the Code.

Personally, I have both since they do provide different perspectives and would recommend both to anyone.
