API 1102 High Thickness Pipe.

API 1102 High Thickness Pipe.

API 1102 High Thickness Pipe.

(OP)
Dear Friends,
I am doing Road Cross calculation for high thickness pipe. My t/d ratio is 0.91 but as per API 1102 figures upto t/d 0.8 is given . However it is mentioned 4.5 ,"Extrapolations beyond the design curve limits are not recommended."

Dear Memebers please advice the resolution of this problem.
Thanks & Regards,
MDH

RE: API 1102 High Thickness Pipe.

If API 1102 doesn't cover your pipe t/d ratio, you shouldn't be using that wall thickness to make road crossings.

What would you be doing, if you knew that you could not fail?

RE: API 1102 High Thickness Pipe.

Here is a stupid question but I will ask it.   Did you use the correct units to determine the ratio?

Regards
StoneCold

Dear StineCold,
Yes I do check the correct unit. Even I check with software pipeline toolbox. It also gives the same message and is not calculating and giving results.

Pipe Size: 6"
Pressure7179 psi ( 495 Bar)
Tempearture 194F ( 90C)
Thickness:0.632" ( 16.1mm)

RE: API 1102 High Thickness Pipe.

Don't extrapolate.  Use the values for 0.8

What would you be doing, if you knew that you could not fail?
