Unable to delete failed sketches
Unable to delete failed sketches
(OP)
Hello,
When trying to delete sketches from the part navigator that are failed (have a red cross), the "Class Selection" dialog box appears instead.
However, I discovered that I'm able to delete the sketch by right clicking the sketch and selecting "Browse", then right clicking the sketch in the Browser window and selecting "Delete".
I'm assuming this is a bug, am I wrong? Is there a reason why you can't delete failed sketches directly from the part navigator?

RE: Unable to delete failed sketches
1. Create a sketch with a vertical line (Sketch (1)).
2. Create a sketch with a horizontal line (Sketch (2)) that has a point on curve constraint to Sketch (1).
3. Having created these two sketches, now delete Sketch (1). A notification tells you that other features are affected (which of course is Sketch (2) which references Sketch (1)).
4. Now, Sketch (2) is failed as expected and nothing shows in the graphic view.
5. Now, attempt to delete Sketch (2) and the Class Selection dialog pops up, giving no indication about how do delete the sketch.

Note however that if I go back to NX 7.5 and do the same steps I DO get a 'failed' sketch ((X)), but I can still delete it without any problems.
Perhaps there was a problem in NX 8.0.0.x which has been fixed since my testing was done using NX 8.0.2.2, which will be released soon.

RE: Unable to delete failed sketches
If I remember correctly, I changed the customer default setting Modeling>General>Delete and Suppress>Delete child features from checked to unchecked.
Now, if I add a check mark to this option, by deleting Sketch(1), Sketch(2) is still "green" and I can delete it like normal.
However, the reason why I don't want to have the "Delete child features" checked is because I want to keep all child features if I delete a parent feature. That way I can create a new parent feature and use the same child features and simply redefine them to the new parent feature.
It seems there is a bug when the "Delete child features" is unchecked, because if we have a case where the parent feature is a cube, and the child feature is a hole in the cube, when deleting the cube, the hole remains with a red cross, BUT I can still delete this hole like normal. This means that the problem with deleting failed child features only applies when the child feature is a sketch.

RE: Unable to delete failed sketches
So again, it would appear that this issue has been addressed in what will be the next MR (Maintenance Release) of NX, which should be available for donwload later next week.
