Creep analysis ASME VIII Div2

Creep analysis ASME VIII Div2

Creep analysis ASME VIII Div2

(OP)
Dear all,

Our client asked us to perform creep analysis according ASME VIII Div2 for a reactor with DT=700C and DP=5barg material is SS 304 (all. Stress = 25Mpa). Please let me know if we must check the creep for the reactor or only for the nozzles. Can we perform finite element (e.g by FE Pipe or nozzle pro)?

Thanks in advance

RE: Creep analysis ASME VIII Div2

Creep is not covered by the design-by-analysis section in ASME Section VIII, Division 2.  What your client has asked of you is an impossibility.

As an aside, the software that you mention may not be capable of creep evaluations.  Creep requires analysis that is much more complicated than your typical vessel engineer can handle.  If your client insists on such an analysis (which is covered, BTW, in ASME FFS-1/API-579), my recommendation to you is to find a consultant with experience.
