What is the difference between wood framed type 3A and type 5A buildings in terms of structural design? Where can I find structural design reference for type 5A buildings?

IBC??

Check IBC as Mike said.  Beyond that you _may_ have an Incising adjustment factor on the wood members due to the treatment process.  You will need to look up your local supply chain. Other than that -details, details, details.

@engr567: Fire resistance rating(FRR) requirements for building elements are generally provided by the architect.
Ref IBC - 2006 - For type V-B construction there are no FRR requirements for building elements - structural or nonstructural.
For type III-B construction, FRR are applicable only for exterior bearing walls. The number of hours required depends on the type of construction, occupancy, and fire separation distance. If the fire separation distance x >= 30 feet, then no fire rating is required for ext. bearing walls. If x < 30feet, then FRR is required and you may refer to Section 2303.2.
Also try posting on IBC Forum.
