Maximum Pier Dowel Spacing?

Maximum Pier Dowel Spacing?

Maximum Pier Dowel Spacing?

(OP)
Assuming the minimum .5% steel ratio at the interface with the footing is being met do the vertical dowels in a pier still have a maximum spacing limitation like that specified for longitudinal column bars in section 7.10.5 of ACI?

Thanks!

RE: Maximum Pier Dowel Spacing?

DST148, thank you for taking the time to answer.  I guess I should have mentioned the ties as well.  Specifically I was referring to Fig. R7.10.5 in ACI 318-08 and whether this spacing limitation (and the tie requirements) apply to the vertical bars in a foundation pier.  I read through the links and they touched on this topic briefly in the first thread; however, there seems to be a difference of opinion.

RE: Maximum Pier Dowel Spacing?

@waytsh: There is no consensus on lateral ties in piers / pedestals. See if thread507-317067: pedestal ties would help.
