PE License in Pennsylvania

PE License in Pennsylvania

PE License in Pennsylvania

(OP)
Have applied to Pennsylvania for a PE license by reciprocity.  The response to my initial application revealed a requirement that a direct verification of registration was needed from every state I'm licensed in or have ever been licensed in.  This goes way beyond the normal requirement of verification from state(s) where the FE/PE exams were taken. Has anyone else out there experienced this? For anyone already registered in many states this could take months to complete and cost $$$$.

RE: PE License in Pennsylvania

Most states you can go on line and look up by name, just do that, print it out, and send it in. would that work?

Unfortunately, this state requires that a form be filled out and returned by each state board.  This requirement may be unique to PA.

RE: PE License in Pennsylvania

I ran into this too for another state a few years back (don't recall which one), which motivated me to get the NCEES record.  It makes the comity process much easier.  You also don't have to hunt down references, verify exams, send in transcripts and the like.

If you think you may get other states going forward, get the NCEES record.

RE: PE License in Pennsylvania

NCEES is the way to go.  I am licensed in 42 states and it made life much easier.  I am registered in PA and don't remember that requirement - may be it's new??

As stated get your self up to date with NCEES and things just seem to go much easier!!

Or just lie and say you are only registered in one state....  Course that could lead to a whole bunch of other problems if they found out otherwise!!

RE: PE License in Pennsylvania

I had to go through the same process when I applied for my license in Pennsylvania. Depending on how many other states you are already licensed in, it could delay your application, but I doubt that it would be by much. As suggested, NCEES is a good way to go if you anticipate going through this again. Since I'm only licensed in three states I never felt the need. Most states charge about $20.00 to have your records verified. And all states don't share this requirement. When I applied to Colorado, I don't remember having to go through this.
