Common metric pipe sizes for RCP?
Common metric pipe sizes for RCP?
(OP)
I am doing a project in metric units and I want to spec pipe sizes that are common - for example - an 18" pipe is close to 450mm but is 500mm more common? The project will probably get materials from Eastern Europe. I'll probably use RCP or HDPE as the soils are highly corrosize. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Eighteen inch pipe is DIN450 and it is in everyone's catalog. SDR-11 HDPE in DIN450 is 14.7 inch (373 mm) ID.
I've found that some pipe sizes are more common than others and 14-inch and 18-inch can be a chore to get fittings for. I did a tie-in to an 18-inch steel line when I first started and the way I designed the tie-in was to cut in a tee--it took 3 months to find an 18 inch straight tee and I paid a serious premium for it. Everyone had 16-inch and 20-inch, but 18-inch was a special order.
It is a good idea to have a conversation with a local supplier and see what they stock before you make pipe size decisions.
