(OP)
I want to replace a #40 single strand roller chain with a synchronous timing belt,  imperial pitch "H", 1" wide. Will it be strong enough? Its 1:1 ratio 2.250" spocket (15 tooth). Its a conveyor driven by a speed reducer gear box output 60 RPM. The output torque of the speed reducer is listed at 440 in. lbs. Thanks for any help.

RE: synchronous timing belt torque

Might be.

Almost certainly the belt manufacturer's catalog will guide you through the calculations to confirm.

RE: synchronous timing belt torque

keklon,

You should be able to check the manufacturer's catalogue and/or website to see the torques and speeds of their drives.  That should answer your question.
