AESTHETIC TAPE FOR POTTED ALUMINIUM ENCLOSURES

AESTHETIC TAPE FOR POTTED ALUMINIUM ENCLOSURES

AESTHETIC TAPE FOR POTTED ALUMINIUM ENCLOSURES

(OP)
I have an application where we have folded aluminium sheet housings, which are internally potted using a silicone potting material (rtv). The edges/corners are not sealed during potting, so I am looking for an adhesive tape that will offer the following attributes:

- Allows potting to go off (some tapes have an adhesive backing that prevents potting from going off/hardening).
- Prevents potting from seeping through folded edges.
- Easy to apply.
- Offers a nice aesthetic finish around the edges of folder aluminium sheet metal housing. A silver colour would be preferable for example, to match the raw grained aluminium finish.

Other beneficial specs are:
- Is ok to use at temperatures of up to 55 deg C.
- Waterproof.

I have seen neat production standard taping used on enclosures before, but have not been able to find any. Does anyone have any suggestions?

RE: AESTHETIC TAPE FOR POTTED ALUMINIUM ENCLOSURES

Maybe I'm missing something... but what's wrong with aluminum tape?  Comes in various widths, is relatively inexpensive, etc.
