Does anybody knows what happens if I overanneal 304L SS?

Recommended temp is 2050 but what happens if I anneal at 2150?

Will there be some grain coarsening? Dimensional changes? Issues with corrosion? Something with Cr?

Any ideas or better bad experiences?

Usually, grain coarsening and slight reduction in RT mechanical strength properties below minimum published values.

It would be unusually for the yield or UTS to drop below spec.  These are often much higher and there is a lot of room.
The material was cooled fast enough, right?

Are you going to form this material?  I can't think of may ways that coarse grains will hurt.  We used to anneal at 2100F as a standard practice, better weld microstructures.

Yes the material was properly cooled and it is pretty thin too.
Agreed about the weld.

So no corrosion issues?

Since your talking about 304L the sensitization effect will be minimal. Was the heat treating done in the atmosphere or a reducing atmosphere? Either way, instead of speculating just do a cross-section and look for any surface and intergranular reactions that might of taken place.
