Connex/Shipping Container Design

We are looking to use a couple of shipping container boxes for a structure. Does anyone have info on the 'standard' shipping container. I know they are dimensionally the same usually, but what about the construction? What steel they use, load capacities (when they are stacked in a ship, I assume they all transfer the load to the base of the ship, so they have to have some load capacity). Any general info that you have come across that would help with design.
Thanks
