adding krx in fastener command

adding krx in fastener command

(OP)
i was wondering, and probably it's possible, but i have no idea how i can do this:
i want to create a fastener assembly with this part:
http://www.q-parts.nl/catalog/images/857620.jpg
sorry, my native language is not english and i can't find the english word for it. sorry for that.
can i create this part as a KRX file and input it in to the reuse library so that the fastener assembly command can see my own made part? cause right now it only sees the parts that are already integrated in NX.

RE: adding krx in fastener command

Attached is a how-to document (section 6.2 covers KRX files) and some template files which may help you get started in the right direction.

dont want te be a drag John,
but the only usable item in that file is the word document right? cause the 2 .prt's are nothing and i can't open the .dpv(also have no idea what it is)

RE: adding krx in fastener command

Yes, that's correct.  BTW a .dpv file is where customer defaults are stored and while it's possible to read them using any text editor, they don't make much sense to us simple humans winky smile

RE: adding krx in fastener command

BTW, my comment about .dpv files not "making much sense to us simple humans" was of course meant to be facetious, but if you really feel that you'd like to see what's actually in a .dpv file (or any XML file for that matter), just drag the the file onto an open browser window.

RE: adding krx in fastener command

Do you mean the 'Fastener Assembly' function?

If so, when you pre-define typical Fastener 'stacks' using the 'Configure Fastener Assembly' function, based on the Standard selected, you will have access to the various relevant fasteners from the Reuse Library.

Search the NX Help files for 'Fastener Assembly' (or open the 'Configure Fastener Assembly' dialog and press the F1 key) and you will find stuff which will help you set-up these fastener 'stacks'.

i do have a problem..
when i press F1 or go to the help files, i get this error:
"Unable to display help information.
Application contect not found"

is this because we use multiple HD's and NX can't find the help files?

RE: adding krx in fastener command

Look into your log file (Help - Nx Log file)search for the word Help in the file.
Should be a (network) HD path like this :

UGII_CSHELP_DOCS "path to help files"

Probably it points to the wrong directory or network path.

Michaël.

but the "ugdoc" map doesnt exist

Where are the help files then? You could make the directory and copy the full help documentation to there. But keep in mind, it's about 6Gb on size.

RE: adding krx in fastener command

(OP)
oke, i have it installed but..
it doesnt say anything about putting hex socket bolt in..
only this: Use this command to add an individual fastener or Fastener Assembly (bolts, screw, nuts, and washers) into selected holes automatically. The fasteners are retrieved from the NX Machine Library, which has a large variety of ANSI, Inch, Metric, ISO, JIS and other standard hardware. The fasteners are fully parameterized NX parts.

but i only have acces to the normal hex bolt and nut.. (see attachment)

so how do i put those others bolts and nuts in? since i only have the basic nut and bolt..

I don't know what to say as I have no problem accessing the full machinery library:

RE: adding krx in fastener command

then i think it has to something with:
1, see attachment, the machinery library isnt added, but when i add it nothing happens when i press on the add button [2](see attachment which button i mean)
2, maybe it has to do something with the wheel between the return and X button on your screen which i have not..(also see attachement)

Chevy

RE: adding krx in fastener command

Trust me, the 'Wheel' (it's actually a 'gear' ;-) has nothing to do with this as it's just a User Interface option (the picture was taken from a session of NX 8.0).

I don't know what to say if you have the Machinery Library installed where it supposed to be and if you have no problems find what you're looking for by going to the Reuse Library tab on the Resource Bar.

RE: adding krx in fastener command

Go to...

Customer Defaults -> Gateway -> Reuse Library -> General

...and in the appropriate section, Native or Teamcenter, check to see if the correct paths have been defined to where the libraries were installed.

no they are not, thats what i stated in my previous post with the attachment, you can see there that i dont have the machinery library in that section, but when i do(when i just ype it in the native section there) the add component button in the Fastener assembly function doesnt work and i can't go further then.. when i press that button(see my previous attachment to see what button i mean)nothing happens..

i've looked at the installation document, but i dont understand what it means at step 2 and further..:
2.    Copy the zip files to "${Installation_Tool_Root}\Tool\libs" folder.

this folder is the folder within the download, so where do i put this directory?

since, i cant go further, ive got no idea how to get the picture in step 3..

can somebody help me with this?
