linking an attribute from a part to assembly not updating in BOM

linking an attribute from a part to assembly not updating in BOM

There seems to be a problem. When I try to link a part to get the material which I defined as an attribute I get <W!55227@MATERIAL> . The problem is that everything I open the assembly the 55227 changes to something else. If this is in a note, its fine and updates, but if its in my bill of materials(part list) then it doesn't . Is there anyway to overcome this problem?

RE: linking an attribute from a part to assembly not updating in BOM

If you are using a "Partslist" in NX , then you should not bother about the component identity, select the column of the partslist and have that column list "material". ( i don't remember the exact syntax)- click the button to select the "material" attribute and you will receive the correct syntax.

Thanks that did it, they use the <W(partname)@MATERIAL> for the table instead of the random numbers

That number is NOT random, just something that has little or no meaning to a user winky smile
