Where can I find this part?

Where can I find this part?

Where can I find this part?

(OP)
Hi everyone,

I'm looking to find yet another rare part. See pic attached.

This is a 3 hole pipe clamp out of 316SS. It could be aluminum as well (6061, 6063 or other alloy).

Can you direct me to places where you think I'm likely to find this part? The hole in the top is not a must (we can buy the clamp with two holes in the sides and drill the hole in our workshop)

The dimensions are roughly:
2.5 in length
.8 in wide
.8 in center curve radius

Thanks.

RE: Where can I find this part?

Maybe Google "pipe clamps"??

Almost looks like something from Harbor Freight or Restoration Hardware??

Good Luck

RE: Where can I find this part?

Looks like a clamp from a hot tap, or even a conduit clip, for that matter.

It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.

RE: Where can I find this part?

That's just a pipe clamp.  You can get them off-the-shelf at any plumbers supply house.  Try to google it online.

Regards,
Cockroach

RE: Where can I find this part?

I am not sure but this may be from the Band-it clamping range

RE: Where can I find this part?

Aisle3, on the left, second shelf.

RE: Where can I find this part?

Hmm, if only there were some kind of online catalog to look through, like this one. winky smile

(Not sure they have the material you want in the size you need but there are plenty of places like this as alluded to by others above.)

RE: Where can I find this part?

What about 'Parts Is Us'?  Or talk to the people who originally installed it, or installed or manufacture the equipment it is associated with.  Why the special features and shaping, what does this do for you?

@dhengr: I had not realized there was anything special about this part until I conducted a market search which included most if not all of the places that people have posted above (thanks for the input guys!)

It looks like a pretty commonplace pipe clamp-half, except I can't find anyone who makes this with 3 holes (maybe the 3rd hole was drilled but it has a special groove around the center hole which makes me think it was made that way). Also I need this in 316 SS or Aluminum, because it will be used to attach a storage tube to stanchions of various diameters on sailing yachts.

RE: Where can I find this part?

Check out the split ring hanger clamps at McMaster-Carr

RE: Where can I find this part?

(OP)
@DAVIDSTECKER: I need them in 316SS or aluminum. 304SS will not survive on a boat.

@KENAT: What are those?

RE: Where can I find this part?

Try West Marine !

@Berkshire: West Marine was the first place I checked out. No dice. They also happen to be our primary retailer.

@KENAT: D'uuuh @ myself. Thanks tho.

RE: Where can I find this part?

pwrslave86,
That puts a different light on it, so you are a wholesaler of parts. I am presuming you had a source of supply before, have they dried up?

 You might try http://lcpenner.com/LCP/hangers.html

They make stainless steel hangers and could possibly modify one of theirs to suit your needs.
Otherwise depending on quantity, you could shop for a small sheet metal shop to stamp and form a smaller quantity using CNC equipment.

@berkshire: The clamp in the picture came from a prototype stowing design that was given to my boss years ago at a fair overseas...I haven't been able to track it down to a manufacturer yet.

the link you sent looks interesting...thanks a lot.

RE: Where can I find this part?

I don't know how many of them you need but I run a small stamping company and work with 316 SS and supply the marine industry currently with custom stamped parts.

RE: Where can I find this part?

I agree with others, maybe mcmastercarr or hardware stores. Or you can always try and make it your self if you dont need to many pieces.

RE: Where can I find this part?

(OP)
@rudyeb...Are you located in or near the SF Bay Area?

RE: Where can I find this part?

Actually, I'm about as far away from SF as one could be and am located in CT. Let me know if I can help you. The part is a very simple one to make but you need quantity to making stamping worth your while. For a small quantity, you might want to consider laser cutting the parts and then forming the radius after. This would be your most economical way of doing a small amount. If I can assist you in any way, just let me know.
