Flexible Component Definition using Axis

(OP)
I would like to make a hydraulic cylinder where the length of the cylinder is driven off of the distance between to axes.  The driving axis is built off of a sketch so I can change the "stroke" length of the sketch and it will update my components.  I'm not sure if a flexible component can be assembled to an axis and was curious if anyone could help me out.  See my attached document that illustrates what I am trying to do.  Thanks.
