What type of Nylon?

What type of Nylon?

What type of Nylon?

(OP)
Does anyone know what type of nylon and rubber is used in this product http://www.josephjoseph.com/kitchen-tools/elevate . It states it is heat resistant to 240˚C/480˚F.  Also what is the manufacturing process called in which a plastic is coated in rubber?

RE: What type of Nylon?

They are typically nylon 6.6. It is the highest melting point of any reasonably affordable nylon with a melting point of 256 deg C. It is also available in food contact and medical grades.

RE: What type of Nylon?

The process you asked about is called over-molding.

It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.

RE: What type of Nylon?

OK

Thanks to ON, I just saw the second part of the question.

The rubber is typically polyurethane and the nylon having the higher melting point is moulded over the PU so it has enough heat to fuse to it.
