Array Diagonally

Array Diagonally

Is there a way to array diagonally? I have tried to do it in a sketch using pattern curve, but it doesn't behave like I feel it should.  First I feel like when I array with a 1 in the x and a 1 in the y it should make one curve that is the x distance and y distance away... Anyway, when I put 2 in the x and 1 in the y direction it shows everything in shows everything inline in the x direction, but when i click okay it jumps to the diagonal location like I want it to, but when I get out of the sketch and extrude it, it realigns all of the sketches... I am going to try to remake it in a non-proprietary file and will post shortly.

RE: Array Diagonally

OK, try this.  Before entering the Array dialog toggle OFF both the 'Create Inferred Constraints' and 'Continuous Auto Dimensioning' icons in the Sketch Tools toolbar.

Now when you open the dialog you'll see some additional options that were not available before, the section of the dialog labeled 'Pattern Settings', where you'll find a 'Stagger' option.  Set it to 'Row' and I think this will now behave as you would like it to.  Note that the option labeled 'Show Last Column' can be used to control how the staggered row is finished, with one extra instance or not.

Anyway, give it try and see what you think.
