Saving SolidWorks Drawing as DWG/DXF with each view a Block

Saving SolidWorks Drawing as DWG/DXF with each view a Block

Saving SolidWorks Drawing as DWG/DXF with each view a Block

(OP)
I am currently saving plan views of my models as DWG files that our sales team gives to our customers so that they can drop them into their plan views.  I am doing this though DriveWorks and we do not want to touch the files that DriveWorks creates.

When DriveWorks creates each model, the size changes and sometimes the views overlap.  Because the resulting views are not blocks, a lot of time has to be spend carefully selecting each segment to move the views away from each other.

Is there a way to make each drawing view a block so that when it is saved as a DWG, the resulting view will be a block as well?

Thanks,
John

RE: Saving SolidWorks Drawing as DWG/DXF with each view a Block

It should be relatively easy to move the views as units from within the SolidWorks drawing before the bDWG is created.  Alternatively you could set up the drawing so that each view was on its own sheet.  The individual sheets could then be saved as their own DXF / DWG and used as a block.

Thanks for the suggestions EEnd.  I have spaced the views a long way apart and that works for 95% of the cases.  I was just wondering if I could move the views closer together and still get a view that I could easily move if necessary.

The goal is to minimize any work needed prior to sending to our customers.  Putting the views on separate sheets defeats his purpose.

Thanks again.
