Sulfur Blocks Melting Plant
Sulfur Blocks Melting Plant
(OP)
Currently we have sulfur blocks stacked on plant site. We are planning to built a permanent sulfur melting plant. The sulfur came from Claus process and approximately contained 10 ppm H2S before the block was formed. The plant capacity is about 1000T/d. the melted sulfur will be trucked out for sale. Steam will be used for melting. A small boiler may be required to produce the steam required.
Anyone knows proper technology or facility available for this purpose? What are the main challenges for this kind facility?
Thanks,
Yuze

The resulting liquid sulphur flowed down into a series of troughs and then into a heated sump for pumping and storage. I was forever getting sulphur burns from spattering sulphur, the stench was horrific, and small sulphur fires were not uncommon. I was quite happy when that job ended.
Suggest you talk with one of the big sulphur movement companies...
RE: Sulfur Blocks Melting Plant
1, our sulphur block is about 100 feet. Using the steam coil pressing against it needs to be step by step.
2, In the winter, the weather is very cold the heat loss for the steam coil may be quite significant and the productivity may be low.
3, Since this is a permanent facility and the design life span is for 25 years, the reliability for the steam coil may not meet the life span requirement.
