Dynamic Case

Dynamic Case

Dynamic Case

(OP)
I am fairly new to ABAQUS,

just a simple question:

It is possible to run a dynamic Case with two separate parts? i.e. Can I have one part hitting another part without getting any element penetration? A simple example would be a fist and a wall. Does there need to be some sort of interaction between these two parts or will the wall stop the fist and the stress concentrations can be studied.

Thank you for your help

RE: Dynamic Case

Yes dynamic impact of 2 parts coming in contact can be handled in Abaqus.Explicit.

Contact pairs or general contact needs to be defined.  If you want to get the impulse not just the quasi-static loading Abaqus.Explicit is probably the best solver.

Search this forum for 'impact'

I hope this helps.
