turn the sheet

turn the sheet

turn the sheet

(OP)
Is there a possibility to turn the drafting sheet clockwise (counterclockwise...)?

Best regards,

Michaël.

RE: turn the sheet

Do you want to turn it relatively to your datum CSYS or can de CSYS turn as well.
In the latter case, hold your mouse at the top of your drawing window, click middle mouse and move left or right. This will make everything rotate about the 'Z-axis' (axis coming 'out of your screen')

i can't seem to preform this action? middle mouse button just moves the drawing to left - right

RE: turn the sheet

make sure you do it at the top of the screen. You'll see that your mouse turns into a different icon if you do it in the right place. (I'd take a screenshot, but the mouse pointer isn't added in those)

P.S.: if you do the same thing on the right of your screen it will move up-down, around the 'x-axis'

RE: turn the sheet

Read again :)

Since a screenshot doesn't capture the mouse pointer, there's really no point in taking one...

RE: turn the sheet

Why, exactly, do you WANT to rotate a drawing 90°?

RE: turn the sheet

I have on occasion seen drawings in a "portrait" format.  I'm guessing this is such an occasion

RE: turn the sheet

But are you actually talking about a rotated drawing or rather a drawing using a format (border) created for display in Portrait mode versus Landscape?

RE: turn the sheet

Like what?  I see nothing. (our filtering software is sure to hide anything useful)

RE: turn the sheet

I was thinking it was about (quiclky)converting an existing landscape drawing to partrait. (or vice versa)  I don't know for sure my interest (at this point) is purely academic

RE: turn the sheet

(OP)
Yes, i just want to turn the sheet to portrait or vice versa for readability. I know that i can change the orientation with edit sheet but sometimes you need to read a dimension and it would be nice if i just could turn the sheet instead of my head each time.

But i can't get Walterke's method to work, my pointer doesn't change shape?

Best regards,

Michaël.

RE: turn the sheet

In that case I'll point to John to fix it, since my knowledge of the matter is limited.

RE: turn the sheet

There is no way that I'm aware of to rotate the image of a drawing on the screen.

Ok thank you for the info, but do you understand why i would like to be able to do so?

RE: turn the sheet

Just because there might a good reason to do something does not mean that we should expend resources doing it.  However, if you feel that strongly about this, call GTAC and have them open an ER to that effect and it will be considered.

RE: turn the sheet

If you are reading released drawings, why are you even using NX as a drawing viewer? Plot the drawing as a PDF file and let Acrobat rotate the view so you can read the dimensions. Zoom in/out and pan around are easier with a 2D representation.
