(OP)
looking for some data on evaluating bluges in above ground storage tank API 650 design  , API 653 recommends evaluating these but doesn;t porvide much reference , thanks

RE: storage tank

Where are these bulges on the structure?

How prevalent are they?  Are they recent?

What is the shape and support system for the tanks?

RE: storage tank

One thing to check into is that many tank owners are required to have periodic inspections of tanks by a certified API-653 inspector, and evaluation of such items would be included in that inspection.

Otherwise, it would help to know if these were in the shell or bottom or roof, whether they're just construction tolerance issues or what.

RE: storage tank

Provide a sketch of the tank, the plan and some sections.  If possible, provide photos of the bulges.  Otherwise, nobody on this forum has a clue as to the problem you are facing.
